Gustav Klimt paints “The Kiss” in which he celebrates the attraction of the sexes. The Austrian artist was a controversial figure. His work was criticized for being too sensual and erotic. His symbolism was considered too deviant. Today, his painting stand out as very opulent art works. In his distinctiv style, Klimt used gold leafing or gliding. Sometimes used a variety of luxury materials, including marble, ceramic, gilded tiles and enamel along with pearls and other semi-precious stones.
